2.Long, long ago, a man wondered why a good friend of his had not called on him for a long time. One day he bumped into the friend and asked the reason. The friend answered:
“When you entertained me with wine last time, I saw a snake in the cup as I was going to drink the wine. I felt nausea then but I still drank it up. However, I was taken ill. The host remembered that there had been a horn-decorated bow on the wall of his room so that the so-called “snake” in the cup might be the reflection of the bow.

The hare died because of the broken neck. In expectation of the same chance to come, the farmer put away his plough, stood by the stump all day long and waited for more hares to eat his fill. To his disappointment no more hares came. On the contrary, his field had lain waste and he sustained heavy losses. The farmer not only tried in vain, but also became the laughingstock of the whole nation.

This word made the governor fly into a rage. He ordered Pang to shut up. But Pang said:
“Unless you shoot the bullets into my mouth, I shall keep on rebuking you, these lackeys and running dogs!”
The governor really ordered his underlings loudly to made two shots at Pang’s mouth…..
This story has always tugged at out heart-strings. We must learn the revolutionary spirit from our predecessors. In case of difficulty or danger, we must advance bravely.

He ssid fervently and solemnly in the face of the then Ching Fovernor for Kwangtung and Kwangsi:
“If the life of the Ching Government should extend for another dexade the nation should be subjucated. If the Chinese should not arise quickly and overthrow them, the nation should be exterminated. You, the lackeys who have been betraying the motherland and serving enemies impudently would be the simmers who would leave a stink for ten thousand years!”

On March29,1911, the members of the Revolutionary Party made an attack on the Kwangtung-Kwangsi Governor’s Office of the Ching Dynasty. More than eighty people laid down their lives then and there or afterwards. But later only seventy-two corpses were collected and buried by their comrades at the Huanghua Hillock on the outskirts of the city of Guangzhou. As a result, the buried are, in general, referred to as “Seventy-two Huanghua Hillock Martyrs.”

Chen MIng always felt unhappy when he thought of his family. His parents used to scold each other or even fight with each other because his father was a slovenly person who always idled away his time, indulging himself in drinking and gambling. He often picked quarrels with his wife if he gambled away his money.
Chen MIng’s mother was a kind and diligent woman who supported the family by serving as a garment inspector in a factory. Although she was dissatisfied with her husband’s behaviour, she tried her best to persuade him to come around, asking him to think about. The family and the son. Her efforts, however, were of no avail bevause he obstinatedly stuck to the wrong course.
Chen Ming was disturbed by the situation, which led to the retrogression of his studies.
